MARELEC has extensive experience in grading solutions. Each customer or situation is unique. With its solid background and experience in grading systems,  MARELEC can offer a wide range of solutions for the specific needs of each customer. MARELEC places a priority on openness with customers, in order to fulfil needs and expectations.

All grading systems consist of three important components:

  • Infeed:
The infeed system will generally determine the capacity of the grader. MARELEC offers a wide range of options for these systems. The right infeed system will be selected depending on the application (type of fish) and requested capacity, ergonomics, and preliminary stages in the production process.

  • Weighing:
Fish products are mostly weighed dynamically. Precision and speed are the most important elements of the weighing system. MARELEC provides the right solution, depending on the dimensions and weights of the products.

  • Sorting and/or batching:
We can present a variety of solutions to you, depending on the type of fish products that need to be graded. The sorting systems we offer are not limited to pull or push arms (flippers), retract conveyors, etc. The sorting stations are fully customized to customers' specific needs. These stations can be equipped with (low angle) batching bins, presentation trays, tables, etc. Customized labels can be generated for each batch or tray by adding a label printer to the setup.

One or more take-away conveyors can be optionally used to transport the batches or trays to the following stage in the production process. The grading systems can be connected to the MATRIX software, which allows full integration and traceability in the production line.

Grader after portioning

Grading Solution

A grader can be put placed after a portion cutter to group different weights together. MARELEC has a variety of solutions that will suit the need for your your fish processing requirements.

Key benefits

  • Reduction in manual labor
  • Optimizes yield of the process
  • Configurable by customer
  • Feedback on weight to the portion cutter

The portion cutter provides the option to cut portions into multiple target weights and optimize yield. Optional tools and an acceleration conveyor enable pieces to be separated after the cutting machine.

Placing a grader after the portion cutter allows different target weights to be grouped together. Batches can be optionally created with these target weights.

The graders in line with a PORTIO consists of a wide range of designs. We can design customized solutions for special applications according to customers' specific needs.

Salmon grader

Custom grading solution

MARELEC covers a wide range of weighing, grading, and batching systems, from the reception of the whole salmon to IQF portion-controlled products. We have a custom solution for every need, whether it is capturing data from the received raw material, adding quality or simply grading and batching whole fish. MATRIX software will provide you with the essential KPIs to monitor and control your entire process.

Key benefits

  • Unparalleled accuracy
  • Optimum product handling
  • Ergonomic design
  • Robust and hygenic design
  • Various infeed systems
  • Customized weighing devices
  • Integrated in turn key solutions
  • Easy connection with MATRIX software

At salmon slaughterhouses, the weight and quality of the incoming raw material provides valuable information on the next stage in the process. When graded as prime whole salmon, the fish can be packed in Styrofoam boxes with minimal giveaway.

MARELEC has built up considerable knowledge and expertise over the years and can offer you the perfect whole salmon grading solution. Secondary qualities might be fine graded for further processing. Once fillets have been sorted, they are usually trimmed and the yield, quality and capacity per operator is recorded. After trimming, fillets can be graded again and batched or cut into fixed-weight portions.

By collecting data in the MATRIX software you can monitor yield and take control of the process. MATRIX ensures full traceability and upstream feedback.

MARELEC I Vision

Grading solutions

The MARELEC I Vision camera is able to distinguish between different species using artificial intelligence. It can be used with a grader to automatically sort and weigh species. Automatically recognition of different species reduces human error to zero.

Key benefits

  • Small footprint
  • Fast recognition time
  • Robust construction
  • High accuracy
  • Reduces labor

MARELEC Intelligent Vision uses an intelligent algorithm to recognize different species of fish. The MARELEC I Vision is equipped with a camera that takes a picture. The pre-programmed software compares this picture to the different species that are stored in a database. When the software matches the picture to the correct species, the right information can be sent to a grader or another system to select or sort the fish.
