Printing & Converting
From reel to finished pack
Flexible packaging, labels, cartons and corrugated board all pass through printing, laminating, slitting and converting before they reach a filling line. Print quality and register accuracy define the brand, and waste defines the cost.

Flexible packaging plant
Resin is stored, dosed and extruded into blown or cast film, with scrap recycled in-house.
Step 1 of 6: Resin storage
Resin pellets are unloaded from bulk tankers into storage silos.
Step 2 of 6: Material handling
Pellets are conveyed to each line and blended with additives in exact ratios.
Step 3 of 6: Process cooling
Chilled water keeps extruders, dies and rolls at a stable temperature.
Step 4 of 6: Blown film
Molten resin is extruded through a ring die and inflated into thin tubular film.
Step 5 of 6: Scrap recycling
Edge trim and start-up scrap are reprocessed into pellets and returned to the line.
Step 6 of 6: Cast film
Resin is extruded through a flat die onto a chill roll for clear, even film.
Film is printed by flexo, gravure or digital press depending on run length and design.
Step 1 of 4: Plate mounting
Printing plates are mounted on sleeves or cylinders in exact register.
Step 2 of 4: Flexo printing
Flexible plates print the film at high speed for medium and long runs.
Step 3 of 4: Gravure printing
Engraved cylinders print long runs with fine detail and strong colour.
Step 4 of 4: Digital printing
Designs print directly from file with no plates, suited to short runs and variants.
Support systems keep presses clean and recover solvent for reuse.
Step 1 of 3: Washing
Plates, anilox rolls and press parts are cleaned of dried ink between jobs.
Step 2 of 3: Solvent recycling
Dirty cleaning solvent is distilled back to clean solvent for reuse.
Step 3 of 3: Solvent recovery
Solvent vapour in press exhaust air is captured and recovered as liquid.
Printed film is laminated, slit and converted into pouches, then stored for dispatch.
Step 1 of 4: Lamination
Printed film is bonded to other layers to build barrier and strength.
Step 2 of 4: Slitting & rewinding
Wide reels are slit to customer widths and rewound to set lengths.
Step 3 of 4: Pouch making
Laminate is folded, sealed and cut into finished pouches.
Step 4 of 4: Warehouse
Finished reels and pouches are palletised and stored for dispatch.
